'Physical Education'.
Answer: 1947 AD India became independent in the year
1940, due to which the reins of Indian power came into the hands of Indians.
Changes were started in the educational institutions run by the British
Government and the subjects taught in them according to Indian civilization.
The Government of India prepared a five-year plan for the improvement of
education, while the physical education taught by the British Government
continued as before. New schools and colleges were built in independent India. The
subject of physical education was implemented in schools as well as colleges.
Before independence in India, there was only one institution related to
physical education (Y.M.C.A) located in Madras, which was established in 1920.
In this college, courses were conducted to become physical education teachers. After
independence, to meet the shortage of qualified teachers to teach the subject
of physical education, colleges related to this subject were built. Along with
starting physical education college, many other schemes were started to
encourage sports.
Laxmi Bai National College of Physical Education :- This college was established in 1957
at Gwalior. The college was named after Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi. Various
courses related to physical education were started in this college so that
expert teachers of this subject could be prepared to teach in schools and
colleges. This college offers BPE (Bachelor in Physical Education), M.A.
Physical Education and M.Phil. etc. courses were started. Since its inception,
this college has played a very commendable role in the field of physical
education and has produced highly qualified teachers related to physical
education. Today this institution is working as a deemed university of physical
education.

Answer: Sports Authority of India (SAl) :- In 1961,
the Sports Council of India suggested the creation of a common sports body that
could take responsibility for the preparation of players and teams
participating in India at the international level. A proposal was presented to
name this institution after Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In 1974, the first
branch of this organization was inaugurated in Bangalore. After this, its
branches were also opened in Calcutta, Gandhi Nagar, Aurangabad and Patiala.
